THE SQUID'S EAR AD RATES:

The Squid's Ear was founded in 2002 to provide intelligent and insightful coverage of New York's thriving experimental and avant-garde music scene and to create links with other avant-garde music communities around the world. The magazine is an outgrowth of Squidco, a website initially developed in 1995 to spread information about unusual music and arts to the online music community. Squidco also operates an online music store.

The Squid's Ear is updated frequently with CD reviews, and has a loyal following of readers, with over 1 million articles read as of 2009. Our reviews are advertised through The Squid's Ear/Squidco bi-weekly mailing list, with over 2,000 subscribers; and through direct links from Squidco. The Squid's Ear's writers are paid for their reviews, which allows us to have consistently excellent and insightful writing.


THE SQUID'S EAR AD RATES

Ads rates are ridiculously reasonable because we don't hire a marketing sales staff. We emulate print media, where ads are sold at flat rate regardless of page impressions. Have a look at our rates and see if you don't agree that you'll get a great return on investment by placing an inexpensive series of ads that will reach thousands of new music listeners.

Ads may include a URL to direct a readers to your site. We also maintain counters for the number of times that your ad is displayed (impressions) and the number of times that a reader clicks on your ad (click-thru's).

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Ads may be submitted as JPG, GIF, TIFF, PSD, EPS, or BMP files. GIF animation is acceptable, but you should not submit Shockwave Flash for your ad. Ads should be kept below 25K for box ads, or 40K for banner ads. We reserve the right to recompress images that do not adhere to these size restrictions. You will be given a chance to verify your recompressed ad if compression is required. The Squid's Ear reserves the right to denote any ad as an advertisement and to approve all ad content.


AD DEADLINES

There are no ad deadlines, you can start an ad on any day of the month and it will be run on a monthly basis until the end of you subscription period. Ads should be submitted via email to ear@squidco.com or by mailing the ad on a CDR or a Zip Drive to:
